DEATHS
BODY TRANSFER TO ALGERIA
- In the event of the death of an Algerian citizen in the United States of America, the Consulate General will guide and assist the relatives in the administrative procedures for the transfer of the remains to Algeria. Paperwork will be dealt with by the Funeral Services appointed by the deceased's family or relatives.
- The Consulate General will proceed with the transcription and the issuance of an Algerian death certificate as well as the authorization for the transfer of the remains (Autorisation de Transfert de corps).
- Make sure, the first and last names of the deceased and his parents shown on the death certificate are the same as they appear on the Algerian Civil Status register.
- Death Report completed and signed.
- Original death certificate issued by the US authorities (will be returned after verification and certification).
- Birth certificate of the deceased.
- A copy of the deceased proof of Algerian nationality and identity (Passport, National ID, Consular card or Military card)
- Family Book (if available).
- Medical letter issued by the Department of Health stating the non-infection or non-communicable disease.
- Embalming certificate issued by the funeral services.
- Transit permit issued by the City Hall.
- A certificate stating that the body has been laid out according to Muslim rituals.
- Airway bill (flight itinerary).
DEATH REPORT
- Make sure, the first and last names of the deceased and his parents shown on the death certificate are the same as they appear on the Algerian Civil Status register.
- Death Report duly completed and signed.
- Birth certificate of the deceased.
- The original death certificate issued by the US authorities (will be returned after verification and certification).
- A copy of the deceased proof of Algerian nationality and identity (Passport, National ID, Consular card or Military card)
- Family Book (if available).
- Applications sent by mail should be accompanied by a Priority Mail return envelope from USPS for a faster and safer return.
