MARRIAGES
- The marriage in the United States of an Algerian National can be registered at the Consulate General. A family book is issued after the registration free of charge.
- All applications can be filed in person or by mail.
- Applications sent by mail should be accompanied by a Priority Mail return envelope from USPS for a faster and safer return.
AN ALGERIAN COUPLE
- Make sure, the first and last names shown on the marriage certificate are the same on the Algerian Civil Status register.
- Descriptive Form completed and signed.
- Original American marriage certificate (will be returned after verification and certification).
- A copy of the applicant's proof of Algerian nationality and identity (Passport, National ID, Consular card or Military card)
- Original birth certificates of both spouses, issued within the last three months. These documents will be returned after verification and certification.
- Applications sent by mail should be accompanied by a Priority Mail return envelope from USPS for a faster and safer return.
NON-ALGERIAN HUSBAND
- Make sure, the first and last names shown on the marriage certificate are the same on the Algerian Civil Status register.
- Descriptive Form completed and signed.
- Original American marriage certificate (will be returned after verification and certification).
- A copy of the wife’s proof of Algerian nationality and identity (Passport, National ID, Consular card or Military card).
- Original birth certificates for both spouses. The Algerian national’s certificate must be issued within the last three months. Documents will be returned after verification and certification.
- If the husband is non-muslim born, provide a certificate of conversion to Islam issued by a mosque or an agreed association.
- Applications sent by mail should be accompanied by a Priority Mail return envelope from USPS for a faster and safer return.
NON-ALGERIAN WIFE:
- Make sure, the first and last names shown on the marriage certificate are the same on the Algerian Civil Status register.
- Descriptive Form completed and signed.
- Original American marriage certificate (will be returned after verification and certification).
- A copy of the Husband’s proof of Algerian nationality and identity (Passport, National ID, Consular card or Military card)
- Original birth certificates for both spouses. The Algerian national’s certificate must be issued within the last three months. Documents will be returned after verification and certification.
