Regardless of the place of marriage, a divorce pronounced in the United States of America or by any other foreign judicial authority, cannot produce its effects in Algeria if it is not recognized by an Algerian court.
The procedure of recognition is called "Exequatur" and it is conducted in Algeria by the applicant who may be represented by a lawyer.
Algerian divorce decrees should be reported at the Consulate General of Algeria in San Francisco as soon as possible.
Applications sent by mail should be accompanied by a Priority Mail return envelope from USPS for a faster and safer return.
