IDENTITY CARDS

• Identity cards are issued to Algerian citizens permanently residing abroad and registered at the Consulate General.
• Any applicant can apply for a National ID Card online after obtaining his biometric passport by using his National Identification Number (NIN). 
• Children under 12 years can not apply for IDs.
• Applicants aged 12 years and older must attend the Consulate General to complete the fingerprinting procedure.
• It is recommended to submit the applications by mail before attending.
• ID’s can be renewed six months before their expiration date.
• IDs are issued in Algeria and there is typically a delay of several weeks before receiving them.
• Applicants can track their application by using the number mentioned on their receipt.
• Application status can be checked from the Ministry of the Interior website approximately one week after completing the fingerprint capture.

• Free if for the 1^st Time or the old ID is still in your possession.
• $15 USPS Money order if the old ID is Lost, Stolen or Damaged.

• ID’s Form .
• Two (2) recent passport photos 2×2 inches (51×51 mm) in size (white background, Neutral face no smile & clear forehead).
• Original 12-S Birth Certificate.
• Original expired ID or lost / stolen police report.
• A copy of the consular registration card.
• A copy of proof of US residency (US passport, Green Card, US birth certificate or appropriate visa).
• Proof of employment, self-employment or school enrollment (if available).
• Proof of U.S. address (utility bill, lease agreement, etc.).
• For a faster and safer return of your documents, provide a Pritority Mail return envelope from USPS.
