The 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution

The Consulate General of Algeria in San Francisco extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation to all members of our national community and our distinguished guests for accepting its invitation and joining in the commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious War of National Liberation. The celebration took place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the premises of the Consulate General, in a spirit of fraternity, national pride, and heartfelt attachment to the homeland.
The ceremony opened with the playing of the national anthem, followed by a minute of silence and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of our noble martyrs, whose sacrifices forged the epic struggle for freedom and independence.
On this occasion, a video address by Mr. Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State in charge of the National Community Abroad, was broadcast specifically for members of the Algerian community residing in the United States of America. In his address, he paid tribute to the sacrifices of our noble martyrs and the veterans of the liberation struggle, emphasizing the importance of passing on the legacy of November to younger generations. He also reaffirmed the State’s steadfast commitment to strengthening ties with the national community abroad and addressing its concerns.
Consul General Mr. Farouk Remache also delivered an address in which he welcomed the distinguished guests and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and veterans, as well as to the role played by Algerians abroad in supporting the War of National Liberation. He commended the achievements and expertise of members of the community, particularly in technology and innovation, and called upon young people to take pride in their Algerian roots and preserve the legacy of November. He further highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize consular services and bring them closer to citizens, reaffirming that the Consulate General will always remain a home for every member of the community.
The celebration concluded with a musical evening featuring the Algerian ensemble “Terga” and artist Omar Mokhtari, whose performances in the Chaâbi tradition brought joy to the occasion and celebrated the richness of Algeria’s cultural heritage.
Glory and eternal honor to our noble martyrs.
Long live a free and sovereign Algeria.
